“Can’t Hold Us Freeerse”;
original by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.
Been jamming to the original for a while. Here’s a freeverse to warm up to and stretch my lyrical muscles, since it’s been quite some time.
Return of that rantsom kid.
Trying to master my craft and did.
Gotta a lotta pain that I held in tight
‘till I let it all out no laxative.
Yes sir. Write ‘till the pen runs dry,
I go too hard when I vent sometimes.
As I jot down these words I find that the
worst of times bring the best of rhymes,
and the times I’ve had? Oh man.
Let’s just say I was made ashamed,
everyday for the way I looked.
So I wrote verses and made these hooks.
Took these books that I loaded up.
Spilled my soul when they opened up.
I was barely holdin’ up. Wrote ‘till my hand caught cramps
I still haven’t wrote enough,
that’s real. Got too much heart
inside these notebook papers
to be hurt by no-good haters.
And plus my flow too major
so salute me. If you’re aiming
for the stars, you’ll shoot me.
Plus, if real really recognize real
you ain’t never gotta introduce me.
But for the benefit of those who just aint gettin’ it,
I’m who they ain’t effin’ with. Something like I’m celibate.
I’m not that assertive but I’m certain with no second guess
I’m one place up from second best. Swear that I won’t give you less
than every bit of my everything. I will never be settling
or letting the letter D’s they gave to me in school mean anything.
Unless I’m destroying a beat or I’m tryna defeat the denial that’s draggin’ me down.
Everyone jam to this sound. Lemme see everyone’s hands in the clouds, now.
